Carol Thomas

Carol has been riding since 2002. A lifetime native of the Washington-Metropolitan area, she purchased her first motorcycle from an individual in Falls Church, VA. The bike was a 1998 Yamaha V-Star Classic 650 on which she personally put over 30,000 miles before retiring it. Most of the mileage logged on the Yamaha was accumulated on PARR rides!

Carol's favorite type of riding consists of "twisties" on two-lane mountain roads. To her, this type of riding keeps the mind engaged and remains interesting. Her current bike is a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan Custom 900.

An avid equestrian, Carol routinely rides her Canadian Warmblood gelding in the sport of dressage. She also enjoys swimming, bicycling, and running; she participates in multiple competitive events each season. She established an annual bicycle ride for PARR in 2011 which gained quite a bit of momentum; the group has ridden sections of the W&OD trail as well as the C&O Canal towpath. In the winter, Carol skis with the Ski Club of Washington. She is also a professional vocalist and holds an alto section leader position at Grace Episcopal Church in The Plains, VA. Past hobbies have included general aviation, tennis, and numerous other endeavors, but since full-time employment as a software engineer gets in the way of exercising too many interests, she doesn't let her schedule of extracurricular activities get away from her.

Carol has been a PARR member since 2003. She served as the club President from 2014-2015, led four weekend trips, planned many social events, and is currently the organization's webmaster.
