Mike purchased his first bike, a Honda Hawk 400, in 1978. His current ride is a 1998 Goldwing that he purchased from Dick Merill, a fellow PARR member. Before purchasing his current ride (which he considers to be his "ideal bike"), he enjoyed a silver Yamaha Royal Star Venture.
Upon retiring from the Federal Government in 2004, Mike and his wife Lynn spent four years traveling around the U.S. in their motorhome. One of the highlights of this adventure was being hired as a convention guide at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Upon returning to Virginia, Mike took on a position as a school bus driver for the Loudoun County Public School System - a position which he still holds today.
Mike joined PARR in 1989, shortly after purchasing what he considered to be his dream bike at the time - a Yamaha 1100 Virago. That was when his neighbor, Steve Chen, invited him to attend a meeting and ride with PARR to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. He was hooked! He went on to design and lead PARR's first overnight tours in the mid 1990s and has continued to enjoy creating poker runs and routes for PARR weekend trips. Since the '90s, he has led multiple tours throughout the mountainous regions of Pennsylvania. His motorcycling hobby is supported by his wife Lynn, who has accompanied him on many of these rides. Mike has generously offered his services to the club by serving in every position on the board.
